The city of Hangzhou has both strong cultural heritage and poetic landscape. Based on their heritage in the silk trade, our design concept is based on scrolls of silk sheltering the airport terminal. Their soft undulating forms line the main roof and exude a dynamic image to visitors. Some of these organic forms are carried onto the internal planning, which assist to channel passengers from the departure check-in hall, through custom, immigration and quarantine control. Especially in the retail areas, the formality of the airport environment has been transformed into a fluid and welcoming experience for passengers.
