Guangzhou’s Zhujiang Xincheng was reclaimed in the 1990’s destined to be the new Central Business District in the city.
Aedas was commissioned to create a 200m super high-rise located on a prime lot, amongst an area that includes super high-rises up to 350m tall. Closely situated to the Pearl River, it is a major icon in Guangzhou.
The design concept takes reference from China’s historical jade vase. The form, basically square in shape signifies formality and elegance. It also maximizes building efficiency and flexibility. The owner reserved the top of the building as their headquarter. This portion is also where more articulation takes place and reflects the iconic character of the building both in the day and night time.
