Columbia Interdisciplinary Science Building
New York, USA
Currently under construction, the new Interdisciplinary Science Building will be located on Columbia University’s main Morningside Heights campus, between the existing Physics/Astronomy and Chemistry buildings (Pupin and Chandler). It will incorporate chemistry, biology, physics and biophysics research laboratories to create an interdisciplinary link between the sciences.
Bridging over an existing gymnasium, the facility will include a science library with group study areas, lecture hall, seminar room and public cafe. The building will create a link between the neighboring community and the campus by opening raised campus to the street, and will simultaneously achieve completion of the McKim, Mead & White master plan by completing the Northwest Courtyard.
